A phone case is a small object with one big job: it takes the hits so your phone does not. At KAROVEL, we decided early to build ours from a single material and get it right, rather than chase a dozen finishes that each compromise somewhere. That material is aramid fibre, and this is the story of why. We are a UAE brand, and everything we make is aimed at one buyer: someone who wants real protection without turning a slim phone into a brick.

Why we chose aramid

Aramid is the high-strength fibre used where weight and toughness both matter and neither can be traded away. Woven tightly and set into a slim shell, it resists impact and flex without the bulk that plastic and silicone cases pile on. A finished KAROVEL case weighs about 25 grams, so you feel the phone in your hand, not the armour around it.

We weave our aramid at two densities. The 600D weave gives a fine, close texture; the 1500D weave reads bolder and more three-dimensional. Both are genuine aramid, not a printed pattern imitating one. The difference is grain and depth, which lets you choose the look without giving up the structure underneath.

The magnet ring matters here too. A full N52 magnet ring holds firmly to magnetic chargers, wallets and mounts, so the case works with the accessories you already own instead of fighting them. Slim does not have to mean fragile, and it does not have to mean stripped of function - the whole point of aramid is that you get strength and utility in the same thin profile.

The name is a promise

KAROVEL takes its name from the caravel, the small, fast ship that crossed open water while heavier vessels hugged the shore. A caravel was light for its strength and engineered to go further with less. That is the brief we set ourselves: the least material that does the most work. Every decision, from the weave to the magnet ring, traces back to it.

Designed in the UAE, checked by hand

We are a UAE brand, and we do the unglamorous part in person. Weaves are sourced and inspected before they go into production, and finished cases are QA-checked rather than shipped on trust. When something is off - a lip that sits wrong, a corner that does not seat cleanly - it does not leave the table.

Every KAROVEL case is built to the same standard:

  • Aramid weave at 600D or 1500D, about 25 grams in the hand.
  • A full N52 magnet ring for a firm hold on magnetic chargers, wallets and mounts.
  • Raised camera and screen lips that keep the glass and lenses off the surface when the phone lies face down.
  • Shock-absorbing TPU corners, placed where drops land hardest.

The finish is where personal taste takes over. Our weaves run from quiet to bold: 600D Black (Stealth) for pure understatement, Black Golden (Signet) and Black Check (Check) for a little more presence, Gray-Blue Honeycomb (Prism) and Blue Moon (Meridian) when you want colour with restraint, and Black Check with Green Leaf (Bodhi) for something warmer. Green Beige Grid (Grid) is made for one device in particular.
